• Abstract of the research programme :

CAPSAHARA offers an analysis of the reconfigurations established in the socio-political vocabulary of the West-Saharan region, from the “post-empire” to the contemporary period. The project should produce an analysis of shared social and political structures in the region, of local variations in these structures (based on case studies), of their specific configurations as a function of social markers such as gender, age and class; understanding the recent articulation of the region’s social and political structures with broader and often exogenous political vocabularies. The results of the project should make it possible to integrate the various contexts under study into the broader frameworks of current scientific research, while ensuring the dissemination of its findings to a wider audience. The project is methodologically based on readings associated with different social sciences, with a particular emphasis on anthropology.
