La Generación de la amistad : Poésie sahraouie (L. Boicha, S. A. Hamudi, and al.)

Their names are Limam Boisha, Luali Lehsan, Saleh Abdalahi Hamudi, Chejdan Mahmud, Ali Salem Iselmu, Zahra Hasnaui, Bahia Mahmud Awah, Mohamed Abdelfatah Ebnu, all born between 1962 and 1974. They spent their early childhood in the desert, then experienced a triple exile: to the refugee camps of Tindouf in Algeria, when the conflict exploded; to Cuba, the host country where they did all their studies; to Spain, where they emigrated after returning as young adults, not to their homeland, but to the desert camps. Spanish, the language they learnt in colonial schools, studied and practised in Cuba and eventually in Spain, has replaced Hassanya, the Arab-Berber language of their ancestors. But not the love of poetry, the foundation of Saharan culture. In 2005, they got together to create the Generación de la amistad. Together, they began to write poetry about the Western Sahara, their nostalgia for the desert and the past, their faith in a future without borders; to search for their identity, between exile and the struggle to save the Saharan people from oblivion. They have been joined by many other Spanish-language poets. This anthology brings together those who made the Generación de la amistad a true cultural movement, a movement of anthology.
